Athletics Interschool

Yesterday our competitors went to compete in the athletics inter school and I was chosen to be one of them. I arrive to school on time because the van would leave at 9.00 and I don't want to get left out, The track was held at Lloyd Elsmore. When we arrived at Lloyd Elsmore we walk around the whole track so people that had never been here could have a feel of what it was like. The races I competed in were 400m, 200m sprint and 100m for some of the races we had to do a heat because their was so much school that had turned up to the event. Straight after I finished the 400m final race I had to get ready to race in the relay. I was so tired and my ankle was hurting really bad but I still ran the race for the finals we came 3rd,  2nd was Glenbrae  school and 1st Point England School after a hard day I was ready to go home.

Manaiakalani Film Festival

Yesterday Ruapotaka school went to a event that happened at Sylvia park to showcase our films and to see what kind of films the other school produced. Our movie was called rugby values it was based on teamwork and how to be a great rugby players the people from our class that introduced our film were Meafou and Vaimoana. I enjoyed all the films from all the schools in tamaki cluster and I think they all did a fabulous job.

Star Vocabulary Tests

Today we had a spelling assessment, firstly Min Zin, Isabell and I went into room 11 to arrange the desks for the Year 7s. After we finished we went back to Room 12 where the Year 8's arranged their own desks. Then we began our test we only had 25 minutes to finish our whole test. While I was doing the test I didn't know most of the words so I struggled a little bit, but in the end I managed to finish the test.

Tests

Today Room 12 had assessments, everybody had to detached their desks. We started of with our Maths first Mr Reid handed out a piece of paper to the whole class the test was to see if our Maths skills have improved. We had two minutes to complete each task, when I was doing the tests I was nervous because I thought I would of got a low mark. After our test we receive our marks the people that had improved in the maths test moved up a group.

Back At Tech Term 4


On Wednesday the Year 8 & 7's attended Tamaki College for the first day of Term 4.
When we arrived Mr Grundy welcomed us into his workshop he warned the students to be careful. Some of us didn't no what we were doing because some of the students went to cross country for the last week of school. He then helped the students that were not at school to get them on back on track. He showed us step by step how to do the project we were focusing on, and remember to always finish your work on time.

Colour Combination

This week room 12 did a experiment using a color disc. Our focus was to try combined the three primary colors. The circle had to be 10 cm long,We used a string and it was used to spin the disc the colors we used were red, blue and green.  When I spun the color blue and green the color I saw when the disc was spinning at a maximum speed was turquoise. The experiment went well and I managed to see the different colors we would make with the 3 primary colors.

Duffy Role Model

On Tuesday we had a visitor called Michel Mulipola who came to our school. His jobs were wrestling and Illustrating. As a young kid he noticed that he was a good drawer so he became an illustrator for books and comics. He is currently a wrestler at Impact Pro Wrestling Auckland. He showed us some of his art work and books he was wrote. Lastly he proudly presented some books to children.

Cross Country Practise

Today for fitness we did some circuits for a warm up before we went running in the streets. After we finished doing our circuits the seniors headed to the streets, the year 4's joined us because on cross country day they were going to run on the streets to, the year 4, 5, and 6 had to do 2 laps and the year 7 and 8's 2 or 3 laps if finished 2 laps quickly. While running my ribs starting hurting and I had sweat dropping down my face but i still kept going when i finished 2 laps I decide I wanted to do another lap so I did I enjoyed street running.

Tech

Today we went to Tamaki College for technicraft. When we arrived we had to wait outside the buildings for the teachers so we could find out our classes, The year 8's went to Mr Grundy's workshop and the year 7's went to graphics with Mr Pineda.



 In Mr Grundy's class we discovered that we were doing stain glass. First, we watched a video on what we were doing and how to do it, Later we went back to our desk and we all got a piece of paper for a brainstorming it was then time to go so we went on the bus and went back to school.

Duffy Assembly

Today we had two students from Tamaki College who where head leaders and used to come to our school. They talked about reading and shared about why reading is good and how it could affect our life in college. After they finished talking Mrs Pedersen glady gave to special books to thank them for coming today. We lastly finished off with a song Duffy song.

Orienteering

On Tuesday the Year 7 & 8's had Orienteering. First we lined up and started heading to the park. We then were given our map courses and a clip card to make sure we already mark the places. While doing the activity I was confused and things were mixed up I was feeling stressed but later on I managed to finish all of the courses.

Winter Learning Journey

Today we had a visitor who came to present some awards to the students who contribute in the Winter Learning Journey. This year only 6 people made blogs during the holidays, the prizes that were handed out were New Zealand themed first place was Pupuke, second was Kotipi and 3 place was Riiana the other competitors were Dakbai, Robati and Azahar.

Movie making

Yesterday the year 8's went into room 11 to discuss some ideas for our Manaiakalani movie. Our movie has to be related to New Zealand history. First we had to research some information on New Zealand. After 10 mins we gathered together and discussed our ideas on what we wanted to do for our movie the most votes were for Rugby World Cup hopefully our movie is good.

Pasifika Study Performance ☺☺

Today at assembly each class had to perform a item based to Samoa & Tonga. First Room 1 performed a traditional Samoan dance called the Sāsā, followed on by 5,6,7,9,10,12 the one that interested me the most was Room 6 there performance was good and their Tongan & Samoan outfits. Then at last it was room 12's turn to perform we sang a song called 'How Far I'll' go from the Moana movie. At first I was nervous but then later I be came confident. I really enjoyed the performances from the other classes today.

First Day Of Term 3

Today our holidays finished and we are now back to school ready for term 3. Once the bell rang, we all lined up outside Room 12 to do our morning fitness. After we finished our 10 minutes of running we all went back to our classroom and carried on with our maths. After morning tea, we did our reading for 25 minutes and then went back to our classroom. Some people received books at assembly and we finished the day of with blogging.

Information about New Zealand

Sunshine - In New Zealand Most of the places Receiver 2,000 hours of sunshine a year the daylight can also last up until 9:30 Pm. New Zealand experience comparison small air pollution compared to many different countries which makes the UV rays in our sunlight very strong. The sunlight In New Zealand can quickly burn your skin from September to April so when your go outside you must stay in shade every time as much as possible. Wear a shirt, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen to keep your skin save.

Matariki

Last week Room 12 were studying and learning about Matariki.


The word Matariki is the Maori name for a star cluster, it is also known as Pleiades. Matariki actually means the 'eyes of god' or 'little eyes'. Matariki is celebrated during the winter solstice. When the new moon rises it is a signal of the Maori New Year. On Matariki people come together,  grow crops and some people even attend festivals.

Skipping


In the afternoon, Room 12 have been practicing our skipping. To start off with our skipping routine, we practice skipping forwards, backwards and side to side. Once we have finished our warm ups we break up into our skipping groups and practice our displays. We are going to perform before the end of Term 2.

Lotto's first division struck in Cambridge


Lotto's first division was struck in Cambridge on Saturday night the lucky winner took home $1 million. A new world supermarket sold the winning ticket. but no one hit Power ball or Strike. On Wednesday night the Power ball jackpot will be $5 million and Strike $ 200,000. The winning numbers were 3, 5,6, 7 33 and 37 and the bonus number 20. The Power ball number was 9.

Daily Fitness 😫

Every morning after the bell rings all of the seniors have to go and line up for our daily fitness. We usually run around the block for 10 minutes. Most of the time I run with my friend Saluselo.  I enjoy daily fitness.
