Today at assembly each class had to perform a item based to Samoa & Tonga. First Room 1 performed a traditional Samoan dance called the Sāsā, followed on by 5,6,7,9,10,12 the one that interested me the most was Room 6 there performance was good and their Tongan & Samoan outfits. Then at last it was room 12's turn to perform we sang a song called 'How Far I'll' go from the Moana movie. At first I was nervous but then later I be came confident. I really enjoyed the performances from the other classes today.

Matariki

Last week Room 12 were studying and learning about Matariki.

The word Matariki is the Maori name for a star cluster, it is also known as Pleiades. Matariki actually means the 'eyes of god' or 'little eyes'. Matariki is celebrated during the winter solstice. When the new moon rises it is a signal of the Maori New Year. On Matariki people come together,  grow crops and some people even attend festivals.
