Ruapotaka Mini Olympics
On Friday the 19th of August at Ruapotaka School we made our own mini Olympics.
After lunch some of the parents came to watch us. I was the flag bearer for Russia. After the Opening Ceremony finished, we had 4 rotations. The events we played were the gumboot throw , long jump , Badminton and javelin. After the siren went off, we all lined up for the closing ceremony, awarded medals to those who did well and sang the New Zealand national anthem.

Bolt world's fastest man
Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt has won the 100m final at Rio Olympics.
The result confirms Bolt as the world's greatest sprinter after he claimed his third succeeding gold medal in the event. Bolt crossed the finish line in a season's best time of 9.81 seconds, with American Justin Gatlin just seven hundredths of a second slower to win sliver. Canada's Andre DeGrasses took bronze. The win takes Bolt a step closer to his goal of winning a historic triple-triple, which is the mix of winning gold in the 100m, 200m , and the 4x100m relay in three straight Olympics.
The men's 200m sprint heats get under way on Wednesday.

Drysdale wins gold in photo finish
Mahy Drysdale has won the men's single sculls at the Rio Olympics.
The kiwi collected our gold second medal of the Games with a dramatic photo finish victory. Drysdale went to the final as the defending Olympic champion and title favourite. However , Croatia's Damir Martin had other plans. The Croatian led the field by a boat length after 1000m but by the 1500m mark Drysdale was in front and he appeared to have the race under control. But a amazing burst by Croatian falsely beating Drysdale right on the line.
